Rare antique Majolica pottery "Blossoms On Branch" cheese keeper base or bread tray.
Beautifully colored tray in great condition.
ca.1880's. Probably English.
Glaze wear spots on top & slight glaze wear on bottom.
No visual flaws.

Decorator's mark. Measures 11 1/4" round x 2" tall including pedestal.
Classic Majolica is over 100 years old. It is typically low fired, soft earthenware that is so easily damaged through normal wear and tear. Majolica was meant to be used as a lower cost, day to day ware. Accordingly, it is hard to find 'perfect' pieces, most having scrapes, dings, chips. I try to point out the obvious issues on these pieces but some miss my attention. I set what I think are fair prices, always considering condition.
